The initiative arrives as data from the 2026 Camping and Outdoor Hospitality Report indicates that 44% of consumers are actively seeking to improve their outdoor culinary skills. To bridge this interest, Pitmaster Jerry McPherson will lead live sessions at KOA locations in Austin, Galveston, and Lake Conroe. These events focus on practical techniques for grilling steaks and managing campsite meals, providing a hands-on guide for both novice and experienced outdoor enthusiasts.
Beyond technical instruction, the program offers a broader push toward community engagement. Attendees can participate in lawn games and shared meals, reflecting a shift in travel habits toward slower, more intentional experiences. Rachel Chou, Director of Consumer Marketing for Beef Loving Texans, noted that the goal is to help families reconnect through the simple act of sharing a meal outdoors. Participants can also enter for a chance to win a getaway to the new Fredericksburg KOA Resort, which is slated to open on September 1, 2026.
