The initiative centers on integrating a new subsea cable system between Mumbai and Singapore, alongside a consortium-led project connecting Chennai to Singapore, which is expected to be operational by the fourth quarter of 2029. By bolstering these routes, the company intends to create a high-capacity pathway that integrates directly with its existing terrestrial fiber network in India and over 100 data centers nationwide.
Genius Wong, Executive Vice President and CTO at Tata Communications, noted that these investments are designed to meet the accelerating global demand for AI-driven services. The infrastructure will support the company’s IZO™ connectivity suite, offering enterprises self-healing and self-provisioning capabilities. This expansion follows the 2025 integration of the TGN IA2 submarine cable, further diversifying the company's network, which currently spans over 500,000 kilometers of subsea optical fiber.
