Hansa Biopharma finalizes €115 million Idefirix licensing deal with SERB

Hansa Biopharma has completed an exclusive licensing agreement with SERB Pharmaceuticals, transferring the commercial rights for its kidney transplant treatment, Idefirix, across Europe and the MENA region. The transaction, valued at €115 million, provides a significant financial boost to the Swedish biotech firm as it prepares for a potential product launch in the United States.

Hansa Biopharma finalizes €115 million Idefirix licensing deal with SERB

The agreement grants SERB full responsibility for the development and commercialization of Idefirix in solid organ transplantation across the EU, UK, Switzerland, Norway, Liechtenstein, Iceland, and the Middle East and North Africa. Hansa will receive an upfront payment of €110 million, with an additional €5 million contingent upon the acceptance of a filing for full regulatory approval by the European Medicines Agency.

CEO Renée Aguiar-Lucander noted that the partnership allows Hansa to leverage SERB’s established reach and resources to improve access for highly sensitized patients. While SERB assumes commercial duties, Hansa will continue to provide support through the ongoing EMA review process and post-authorization efficacy studies. This influx of capital arrives at a critical juncture for the company, which is currently awaiting a December 2026 decision from the US Food and Drug Administration regarding the approval of imlifidase.
