The campaign, now in its fourth year, serves as a community effort to alleviate the financial burden on families while equipping children with necessary tools like backpacks, notebooks, and writing instruments. Donations are being accepted at all California Credit Union branches through July 31. The collected supplies will be distributed to students during a community event at the Southeast Rio Vista YMCA on August 5.
California Credit Union President and CEO Steve O'Connell noted that providing basic items like pencils or folders can significantly boost a student's confidence on their first day. Beyond the physical supply drive, the public can contribute to broader youth programming initiatives at the YMCA of Metropolitan Los Angeles through the official campaign websites. This collaborative effort highlights a growing commitment to supporting local educational equity before the upcoming school season.
