C-SPAN and More Perfect Expand On-the-Ground Midterm Election Coverage

As local newsrooms struggle with dwindling resources, a new partnership between More Perfect and C-SPAN aims to fill the void in political reporting. The initiative embeds multimedia journalists in nine battleground states to capture unfiltered video of 2026 midterm candidates, providing free footage to local outlets nationwide.

The 'Road to the Capitol' project targets a critical gap in the information landscape where competitive races dominate national discourse while voters remain disconnected from local candidate forums and town halls. C-SPAN journalists are already deployed in Maine, New Hampshire, North Carolina, Georgia, Michigan, Ohio, Iowa, Nebraska, and Texas to document campaign events without editorial commentary or partisan framing.

This footage is available at no cost to nonprofit and independent news organizations, allowing them to broadcast or stream events they would otherwise lack the staff to cover. All recordings are archived in the C-SPAN Video Library, creating a permanent public record. John Bridgeland, CEO of More Perfect, emphasized that direct access to candidates remains essential for informed decision-making. C-SPAN CEO Sam Feist noted that the collaboration strengthens the infrastructure of local journalism by connecting professional video resources directly with community-based newsrooms.
